On May 31, the JDEnergy Distributed Energy Storage 2024 Ecological Partner Conference (Hunan Session), co-hosted by Xi'an JDEnergy Co., Ltd. and the Energy Storage Leaders Alliance, and co-organized by Hunan Provincial Energy Conservation Research and Comprehensive Utilization Association and Hunan Renewable Energy Society, was grandly held in Changsha.

At the opening of the conference, Du Yuanming, former Mayor of Changsha Municipal People's Government and Honorary President of Changsha Alumni Association of Central South University, delivered a speech. As the first province in China to release a provincial outline for the development of a new power system, Hunan has been leading the country in supporting the development of energy storage in recent years, with its economic benefits gradually emerging, and is expected to become the next industrial growth highland.

In the keynote speech session, Wang Yanghongsheng, Senior Analyst of the Energy Storage Leaders Alliance, analyzed China's commercial and industrial energy storage market. In 2023, the newly added installed capacity of commercial and industrial energy storage in China reached approximately 4.77 GWh, with a year-on-year growth of over 200%. The market will maintain rapid growth in the future, and more diversified profit models after 2025 will drive the commercial and industrial energy storage market to transition from the initial development stage to the mature stage.
Feng Zihao, invited expert from State Grid Hunan Comprehensive Energy Service Co., Ltd., focused on the exploration and practice of energy storage construction and operation. He stated that the times have spurred the rapid development of the energy storage industry, and State Grid has proposed that the grid-connected scale of electrochemical energy storage will reach 100 million kilowatts by 2030. However, energy storage projects also have risks in design, construction, operation and maintenance, operation, safety and other aspects, requiring professional and standardized whole-process overall solutions.
Lou Lizheng, Chairman of Beijing Enterprises Smart Cloud Technology Co., Ltd., analyzed the development trend of energy storage in combination with the local situation in Hunan. The supply and demand of electricity in Hunan has led to great regulation pressure on Hunan Power Grid, which requires more flexible power sources for peak shaving and valley filling to improve the peak regulation capacity of the power grid, so the demand for energy storage development is urgent. In 2023, the installed capacity of new energy storage in Hunan reached 2.03 million kilowatts, ranking second in the country only after Shandong. In addition, the peak-valley electricity price difference in Hunan has long been among the top in the country, coupled with the continuous decline in the cost of energy storage cells, commercial and industrial energy storage will develop rapidly.
Feng Zhuowen, Chief Engineer of Hunan Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., delivered a speech entitled Advantages of Returning to the Modular Technical Route. He stated that how to integrate key components such as battery packs, Power Conversion System (PCS), Battery Management System (BMS) and Energy Management System (EMS) through effective solutions to maximize the economic efficiency and safety of the system has become the first principle of industry development. Compared with centralized solutions and decentralized solutions, distributed modular solutions are more suitable for the commercial and industrial user side.
Zhang Yi, General Manager of Product and R&D Center of JDEnergy, introduced JDEnergy's distributed energy storage solutions and product planning.
